“Squeeze my what?” The bandhas are one of the more mysterious aspects of yoga, often described in conflicting ways among teachers of the same traditions. Move from an understanding of the gross to the subtle as we explore modern and traditional approaches to awakening the bandhas and apply them to a short all-levels yoga asana practice with plenty of pranayama (seated breathing practices) and meditation. When properly applied, the bandhas are points of power and stability inside the body, so postures can be aligned from the inside-out without hurting the joints. Traditionally, they are believed to work with the breath to liberate the flow of energy and they can be used as concentration points for meditation and pranayama. This may lead to feeling of ease and lightness in the body, improved energy, and mental focus that flows into all of life's moments. Please eat at least two hours before.
