Learn to master the rhythm of breath and movement! Unlike the classical approach of describing static postures, riding the wave is a state of continuous alignment in motion. These movement patterns are essential for students who wish to learn a stable controlled handstand, or who simply want to practice dynamic yoga without stressing the lower back and hip joints. Class opens with a short lecture and pranayama, followed by a flowing breath-centered practice of traditional sun salutations, standing postures, arm balances, seated postures, and heart expanding backbends. Those familiar with ashtanga will strike a familiar chord, borrowing from the first and second series.
